An object that describes me

We are doing a class essay assignment involving us to write about an object that describes us. I thought this was a very interesting topic for us to write about and had alot of fun with it! I chose a shield since I am so protective of myself and others and would have to say it fits my charicter quite well! I talked about previous events that occurred throughout my life, and how it plays a big part in my life now since I'm in the service! I think these topics are very personal to me and are the reasons they are so easy, and fun to write about! I am looking forward to write other essays like this in the future, but I hope they don't get to personal for me. Our next essay is about loss, which is probably going to be tough for me but I know I can make it a great paper! I guess I'll just have to burn that bridge when it gets here!

The Pleasures of the Text

So I was reading this short story about text messaging and it struck me a little odd I would say! In Charles McGraths short essay, he talks about how we can coduct our entire emotional life by transmitting on a cell phone. After thinking about these words for a moment I was a little saddened! I mean think about it, all the little things that make life a little more interesting for us like flirting, using physical emotion while speaking, ect. can all be done on a freaking phone!!! I was saddened because I am quite guilty of it myself also! There is a girl I'm talking to right now, and we spend at least seventy five percent of our time texting! Alot of other things are quite similar too, like email. I know a guy that came home and found that his long time girlfriend who lived with him, took everything and left him the dog and an email breaking up with him!!!! I am quite curious to see what other technoligies we create take away the little things that make life interestin or even pleasurable! Who knows, we may be taking pills in place of cooking and eating food some day!

Back In School

Last Friday we were participating in a class writing assignment, and were told to write about a Highschool experience. Or in my case, an experience outside of Highschool since I graduated four years ago. I chose to write about my experience coming back to school after serving over seas in Afghanistan and how it is effecting me now. I've always wanted to go to college, even before I joined and now that I'm here I feel as if it is both the best and most difficult time in my life! In my paper I talked about seeing things that some people would never imagine and how school in some ways is more challenging than the situations I faced over seas! It really got me thinking how writing can really inspire someone to write down things they have been thinking but never reveal!
